Atlantic Umbrella Company becomes member of AEMC

Atlantic Umbrella joins AEMC

Atlantic Umbrella Company is delighted to announce that it has successfully completed the rigorous application process to join the Association of Employment Management Companies (AEMC).

Within the arena of contractor support services the spotlight in recent monthly has been firmly on compliance.

In the wake of Managed Service Companies (MSC) legislation of earlier this year, Her Majestys Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has again signalled its intent to keep all umbrella companies under review.

In particular, HMRC has identified the issue of as a specific area of interest. Where service providers are judged by HMRC to have abused or misrepresented their dispensation they now run the risk of seeing this dispensation revoked retrospectively. This move by HMRC comes in the light of recent cases of reported abuse by what can only be seen as rogue operators. Contractors and recruitment agencies should be very wary of such operators.

AEMC is to meet with HMRC in April to discuss these concerns highlighted in the recent Budget report.

It is therefore the aim of the recently established AEMC to help eliminate the current concern and confusion felt by contractors and recruitment agencies alike in relation to issues of compliance and legality, by providing a kitemark for quality and ethical services amongst umbrella companies.

Alongside Atlantic Umbrella Company, other service providers applying for AEMC membership include Drole Computer Services Ltd, iBalance Limited, JMK Group UK Ltd, No Longer Limited, PlanIT Solutions Ltd and Recruitment & Contractor Services Ltd.

Of these, Atlantic Umbrella Company is the first to have passed the full legal and compliance audit.

For further information on the AEMC , including a detailed clarification of the required code of conduct of its members go to www.a-emc.com.

Having now been granted full membership, Atlantic Umbrella Company has demonstrated to the AEMC that its operational processes, ethics and code of conduct meet the high standards laid down by the AEMC .

Atlantic Umbrella Managing Director, Jonathan Hughes said;

"Atlantic Umbrella is very proud to have demonstrated to the independent auditors engaged by the AEMC that we are worthy of membership. Although the vast majority of our processes already met the requirements, the application process has proved to be of great value in helping us identify those areas where we can refine our operations further. Like the AEMC we are committed to ensuring we offer contractors and recruitment agencies the most compliant and transparent solution possible. AEMC membership will, I am sure, come to be seen as THE assurance of quality looked for by contractors and recruitment agencies in this industry and we are delighted that our membership application has been successful."
