Business software should be treated ''as an asset''

Companies need to realise that having the right software can be an asset to their organisation Companies need to realise that having the right software can be an asset to their organisation, an expert believes.

IT contractors could help businesses realise that the software they choose to use can be a real asset to their organisation, an expert has said.

Julian Swan, director of compliance marketing at the Business Software Alliance, highlighted that the right product can really enhance productivity.

"With only six per cent of financial directors saying they are getting the best out of their software investments, we would advise all businesses to run an efficient software asset management programme," he continued.

This will enable firms to monitor their usage levels and capitalise on the software they have installed, the expert noted.

Mr Swan added that each employee should also be given the right software portfolio in order to properly fulfil their role.

The Business Software Alliance recently found that just seven per cent of financial directors in the country are very confident that they have correctly deployed software within their organisations.ADNFCR-3595-ID-800720618-ADNFCR
