Busy Time Ahead for IT Contracting as more Firms go Digital

Umbrella companies supplying contractors to the IT skills market may experience a significant rise in demand as more UK businesses shift from paper-dominated to digitalised operations. That’s according to green technology expert and co-founder of Ecolibris.net, Raz Godelnik, anyway. He makes some persuasive points.

Disposing of paper-managed operations in favour of a more fully digitalised system, such as billing over the internet rather than through Royal Mail, can substantially improve a firm’s efficiency, Grodelnik argues. Businesses making the switch will need to ensure that the necessary IT infrastructure is in place, he added, a development that may well see more firms seeking the services of experts in IT contracting to set their e-billing systems up.

However, he was also at pains to stress that the solutions on offer today will not necessarily be expensive and are well within the reach of many smaller enterprises. A broad range of software is now available at every level to help smooth the switchover, he explained, adding “If it's about invoices or sending receipts, billing and so on - you can find software that is a good fit for small companies and not as expensive.” New programmes ensure that, where paper is unavoidable, blank pages aren’t printed, often reducing a document from 50 pages to 30.

Grodelnik also believes that more companies should reward staff who economise on paper: “Many times you see companies that save a lot of money but they save a lot of money because the employees are taking these steps. It's good if you can share these savings, whether it's through bonuses or launching some sort of competition between teams.”
