Contractor UK has reported that the launch of supply2gov's successor is getting closer and is expected to take place in September, with the formal implementation date set for December.
The initial wave of contracts that will be made available through the scheme will be worth approximately £10,000, with higher value contracts worth up to £25,000 coming further down the line, the news provider reported.
A spokesperson for the Department of Business claimed that this comes as part of efforts to simplify and streamline the procurement process and sub-contracting opportunities.
The representative added: "We know that many small businesses find public procurement processes burdensome and in some cases completely off-putting."
The soon-to-be-replaced supply2gov website provided more than 160,000 contract opportunities since its launch in June 2006.
