Contractors ''should tailor their CVs to the company''s image''

Tailoring a contractor's CV to a firm's image can be the best way to get an interview A company''s image should be reflected in the way an application CV is constructed, an expert has claimed.

Contractors looking to update their CV should make sure that they take the image of the organisation they are looking to work with into account, an expert has claimed.

Rita Mylett, personal styling and image consultant, has told the Mayo Advertiser that many companies treasure this aspect of the company and may look favourably on those applications which fit in with this.

She also emphasised the importance of adding additional job-relevant information and accomplishments to the CV in order to maximise its impact.

Special honours, news articles, statements of appreciation, special skills and voluntary work can all add weight to one's resume, she claimed.

Ms Mylett added that showing integrity through the use of only accurate information is also important, as falsely claiming to have credentials will usually discredit an application.

Some umbrella companies actually provide CV writing support, either in-house or in conjunction with a third-party, which could be the perfect tool for contractors looking for a competitive edge.
