Could CBI calls for green govt investment lead to new contractor jobs?

Could CBI calls for green govt investment lead to new contractor jobs?More help should be provided to the low-carbon economy, it has been claimed, which could create new contractor jobs.

The number of positions for umbrella company users with a specialisation in the low-carbon economy could grow after calls for more support to be provided to this sector of the economy.

The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) has called for a smooth transition to coalition policies and for planning and support for investment in low-carbon power generation to be provided.

Dr Neil Bentley, director of business environment for the CBI, emphasised the importance of people having confidence in the planning system.

"Whatever the new planning structure looks like, it needs to be able to deliver decisions in a timely fashion," he explained.

The CBI has also called for the government to support UK industrial competitiveness when it comes to reaching an international deal on green issues, which could be good news for IT contractors with umbrella companies.

Earlier this month, the Association of Recruitment Consultancies' chairman Adrian Marlowe highlighted the fact that many companies are still looking for new employees.
