Hosted by HM Reveue & Customs (HMRC), the workshops are scheduled between Ausuts 2nd and the 24th, covering a range of topics from basic advice for the newly self-employed to information on business expenses and capital allowances.
Contractors can also find out more about self assessment online, PAYE expenses and statutory payments.
Paula Rees, advice team manager at HMRC, said events like this help the tax authority to provide free advice directly to the business community.
"It's inevitable that some people will find tax issues daunting, especially those who are just setting out," she said.
"HMRC runs a number of schemes to make tax as hassle free as possible, and at these events we will be happy to talk about our services."
Recently, HMRC unveiled proposals to clamp down on dishonest tax agents, including a power to allow the authority to publish details of such agents online.
