HMRC helpline to help those affected by riots

HMRC sets up a new helpline A new service has been set up to help businesses and individuals affected by recent riots throughout England.

Contractors using umbrella company services are able to seek help from a new service set up by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to assist those affected by recent rioting.

The Civil Disorder Helpline will provide advice to businesses and individuals who may have been influenced by the unrest.

Among the services that HMRC will offer is agreeing new payment schedules with those who cannot meet their tax bills due to short-term financial problems.

If records have been lost or destroyed during the disturbances, the organisation will also be able to discuss practical solutions with the company.

Wherever possible, HMRC will review any penalties that are usually imposed for missed deadlines.

Croydon council recently hailed the work of contractors in helping to get the area back on its feet after it was affected by last week's rioting.

Chief executive Jon Rouse explained to Building.co.uk that contractors assisted in rectifying a number of structural problems across the area.ADNFCR-3595-ID-800699790-ADNFCR
