HMRC to host Olympics webinar for contractors

Olympics webinar to benefit contractors Contractors hoping to win Olympics work will be provided with an informational webinar this month.

Small firms and contractors who want to win contracts for the Olympic Games in 2012 have been invited to watch an online advice seminar from HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) later this month.

The webinar will run on July 27th and will be available for free download afterwards, and contractors have been advised to register in advance if they want to take part in it live.

With the Olympic and Paralympic Games expected to involve more than 50,000 contracts, from construction to IT services, freelancers and small businesses may welcome any help in securing this potentially lucrative work.

"The seminar will cover issues such as talking to a bank about financing, ensuring that the right systems are in place to comply with procurement policies and how firms go about making a bid for an Olympic contract," said HMRC in a statement.

It will also provide information on any tax obligations and entitlements that may apply to contractors.

HMRC has uploaded a number of informational videos to YouTube, including guides to dealing with HMRC as an agent and changes to the penalties system for inaccurate documents.ADNFCR-3595-ID-800622976-ADNFCR
