The PCG has told Contract Eye that, in addition to the technical skills, it is important that those entering this field are able to adjust to new roles quickly.
While it acknowledged the fact that there can be risks facing those who are taking this route, he said there can be plenty of sources to get help from in finding new roles.
"For the vast majority of IT contractors, the rewards from contracting far outweigh the risks you take," the organisation added.
The fact that people face a higher level of risk means that the potential financial rewards are equally high, reflecting this.
A recent e-skills UK report has highlighted the fact that there is a high level of demand for contractors who have skills in computer engineering, as the number of candidates for each of these positions is still falling.
