Network Rail in search of contractor for cladding work

Network Rail goes in search of a contractor A new John Lewis store is being built in Birmingham and a £5 million cladding contract is up-for-grabs.

A major opportunity is up-for-grabs by those working under a contractor umbrella company, as construction of a new John Lewis store is planned in Birmingham.

Network Rail is in search of a specialist contractor for the cladding work on the store, in a contract worth up to £5 million.

The John Lewis retail outlet will form the centrepiece of Birmingham New Street station, which is being renovated as part of the Birmingham Gateway Project.

A successful contractor will be required to design, supply, manufacture and install the cladding on the building in a contract that is not covered by the Government Procurement Agreement.

Birmingham New Street station was earmarked for redevelopment after it was estimated that 140,000 passengers use its services every day, which is around twice the amount it was built for.

Subject to planning permission, the new John Lewis store should be opening in 2014.ADNFCR-3595-ID-800698267-ADNFCR
