People are expected to turn to equity release as a means of plugging the shortfall in their pensions. People are expected to turn to equity release as a means of plugging the shortfall in their pensions.

Many individuals could find themselves plugging the gap in their private pensions by turning to equity release, one group has suggested.

Research carried out by LV= among independent financial advisors (IFAs) shows that 48 per cent believe the shortfall in pension provision will give rise to this trend.

Vanessa Owen, LV= head of equity release said: "For many people, their home is their greatest asset so it is understandable that more and more people will want, or need, to access the equity in their home."

It was recently suggested by director of Addidi Anna Sofat that many individuals find it hard to keep on top of changes in the pension market.

She noted that the pensions system was set up with the intention of it being easy for all to understand, which is no longer the case.

Ms Sofat therefore called on the government to make pensions more accessible to all.ADNFCR-3595-ID-800696358-ADNFCR
