Official statistics revealed that there was a rise in the number of people out of work in the second quarter of the year, but private sector jobs are still remaining strong.
The latest figures from the Office for National Statistics show that between December 2010 and March 2011, an additional 104,000 jobs were created in the private sector.
This takes the total to 23.08 million throughout the UK at a time when the jobless rate stands at 7.9 per cent.
Meanwhile in the public sector, the number of people in employment fell over the same period by 24,000 to reach 6.16 million.
