A spokesperson from Jobsite.co.uk explained that it is important to remain positive when looking for a new role, especially as there is so much competition.
"Smartphones enable people to look for jobs wherever and whenever they like, and apply for jobs as soon as they get posted online," the expert noted.
This gives candidates an edge over the competition in what is a difficult jobs market at the moment, they added.
Earlier this month, Phil Flaxton, chief executive officer of Work Wise UK, explained that the internet is unlikely to give rise to an increase in available jobs.
He did acknowledge, however, that the way people interact and do business with one another has changed considerably over the past few years, and the last decade in particular.
