Teaching contractors ''under pressure'' to use technology

Teaching contractors 'under pressure' to use technology There is a certain amount of pressure on teaching contractors to use technology in the classroom, an expert believes.

Technology is becoming a crucial part of the learning experience for many youngsters, meaning some teaching contractors are under pressure to use it as part of their lessons.

This is according to Miles Berry, senior lecturer in ICT education at the University of Roehampton and vice chair of Naace, the ICT Association, who believes students see technology as indispensible.

He highlighted that this is not necessarily the view of the teaching profession as a whole, although some younger teachers will have grown up with IT playing a role in their studies.

"There are still some in schools who perhaps don't have the confidence to make the most of all that's available," Mr Berry suggested.

This follows the news that the government is seeking to address adult learning across the UK, which is to be discussed through a consultation.

Among its suggestions is that basic numeracy and literacy provisions should be improved for adults.ADNFCR-3595-ID-800713168-ADNFCR
