Mel Dixon, writing for Freelance Advisor, has highlighted the fact that the coalition government has been taking suggestions on how it can save money quickly and effectively.
She said that this is a great opportunity for people to vote to axe IR35 legislation due to its ineffectiveness in generating tax revenues for the government.
During the consultation phase, a number of people made this suggestion and while voting has now closed there is still the opportunity to vote on those ideas which have already been made.
"The deadline is August 31st, so if you’re a freelancer or contractor who's passionately opposed to IR35 then now might be a good time to let your feelings known," Ms Dixon explained.
Seb Maley, freelancer services manager at Qdos Consulting Limited, recently told ContractorUK.com that it is crucial that any replacement for IR35 is clearer and simpler, even if this results in a reassessment of the lines between employment and self-employment.
