Umbrella Company employees contracting as digital specialists may consider a move to the North West in the light of new research from contractor recruitment specialist Venn Group, which reveals strongly rising demand in the region for their skills.
Venn Group’s latest employment update suggests that employer confidence in the North West is exceptionally buoyant, driving an 11.2% year-on-year increase in jobs and contracts. A recent study by the Manchester-based think tank New Economy showed that Manchester alone is set to create nearly 110,000 new jobs and contracts over the next ten years.
Venn Group’s North West regional director of operations, Stan Murray-Hession, pointed out that Manchester’s growth as a centre of business has produced an upturn in confidence, with vigorous demand for professionals being driven by the housing market.
A £300m investment in building 55,000 new homes by 2027 is currently being pursued by a partnership between Manchester City Council and the Homes and Communities Agency, he said, which will also seek to encourage more SMEs into the region and generate further jobs growth.
Mr Murray-Hession also noted sustained demand for digital talent. He explained: “Manchester and the North West as a whole have developed into something of a technology hub in recent years and the recent £1.1bn Media City project has dramatically increased hiring activity. Manchester currently employs over 30,000 workers in the digital space and we can expect this figure to continue to rise over the coming years. In particular demand are web developers and project leaders who can manage ambitious development programmes that many firms may have held off investing in over recent years.”
